Committee Chair: Terry Peck
RI School Social Work Affiliates
The program committee meets once a month to create programming for Rhode Island social workers to get their CEU’s. The Program Committee reviews, approves and evaluates the ongoing program of the Association with attention to program integration and coordination among leadership units. It is responsible for recommending the annual program plan to the Board of Directors.
Policy and Advocacy Committee
The social work profession was founded in social change. Throughout the profession’s history, social workers have sought to ensure that all people have equal access to the resources and opportunities that allow them to meet their basic needs. NASW upholds this challenge by advocating for the association to members of Congress and regulatory agencies that so often hold the authority to influence policy. This committee meets once a month, but will meet more often during the legislative session that runs from January- July in Rhode Island.
NASW-RI Student Leaders Committee
The Student Leaders committee is a group of students from Providence College, Rhode Island College, and Salve Regina University which all have social work programs. Our purpose of this committee is to engage BSW and MSW Social Work Students in defining and structuring meaningful opportunities to address critical clinical and social justice issues. We wanted to create a bridge across Rhode Island’s Social Work programs and the NASW-RI Chapter that inform Chapter programming and outreach to future Social Workers. We want to help develop student leaders who are ready to enter the field as Social Workers who advocate for and respond to clinical and system issues of importance to our profession and those we serve.
